Marriage Counseling Fort Worth, TX
Marriage is not a guarantee of happily ever after, it’s a work in progress that always requires support monitoring, and maintenance. Unspoken issues and perceived slights, resentments, reoccurring arguments, inability to communicate effectively, loss of intimacy, infidelity, and life changes can occur in any marriage.
If these issues are not discussed and resolved, they can fester and become full-blown relationship destroyers. Another major roadblock is when only one person in the marriage acknowledges there are problems and is resistant to examine and make changes for the better. Even when both spouses are eager to make changes, it’s not always easy. We each have our blind spots and sometimes we’re not sure certain problems even exist and yet they can manifest themselves in ways we may not even recognize.
Major elements of an intimate relationship are openness, receptiveness, respect, and clear communication. Often those skills require fine-tuning. For example, in sessions I can help you diffuse disagreements in a healthy, respectful way. For another example, I can help you accept and find workarounds to certain changes that can affect the relationship, such as the kids growing up and moving out, caring for an ill parent, or the unemployment or retirement of one spouse.
With the help of a trained therapist to encourage your exploration into underlying marital issues, you can arrive at clarity and solutions. When I meet with couples initially, I work with them to get to the root of their difficulties and then move on to provide effective therapies to build the health of their marriage. As your therapist, I fulfill the role of an empathetic marriage counselor, a receptive and impartial third party eager to see a couple return to a loving and fulfilling marriage. Call me today and begin to set your marriage back on the path you envisioned for it when you first said “I do.”
Hi There!
My name is Paula Lenard
I am a Native Texan and proud of it! :-), but I do also love to travel and explore the world beyond these Texas borders as often as possible.
It was while studying abroad in London to complete my degree at Texas Wesleyan University-Fort Worth that I learned how important it was to concentrate on hope; to look at possibilities not back at problems. There’s nothing we can do about the past, but we can change what we’re doing now, and that also affects our future. That Solution Focused-based approach completely changed my view about mental health.
There are two things that I adore in life: meeting new people and laughter. I don't think I could live without either. I love connecting with people. The power of connection starts at infancy. I can honestly say, I was served an extra dose of it. I have never met a stranger and never intend to. I'm sure this has something to do with my lifelong desire to be a therapist.
When I'm not in the office other ways I love to spend my time is being with my family and friends. I have two sons: one adult, the other a pre-teen, but I can't deny the love for my "me" time, which usually consists of a Chai Tea Latte (with vanilla), an overstuffed chair, a blanket, and a good book.
